WHAT IS QR

What is a QR Code?

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is machine readable and designed to be read by smartphones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, a URL, or other data.Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. The QR code was designed to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.The technology has seen frequent use in Japan and South Korea; the United Kingdom is the seventh-largest national consumer of QR codes.The reason why they are more useful than a standard barcode is that they can store (and digitally present) much more data, including url links, geo coordinates, and text. The other key feature of QR Codes is that instead of requiring a chunky hand-held scanner to scan them.. many modern cell phones can scan them! Reading a QR code?If you have a smartphone, go to the app store and search for a QR code reader. You'll find several free apps. Run the app and then hold your phones camera over a QR code to read it. Most QR codes you'll come across have a URL encoded, so chances are when you read the QR code it will take you to a web page!
